NOTICE: COMMENT REQUESTED ON PRELIMINARY DFIRM AND
FIS REPORT

Mineral
County Commission received the
Preliminary copies of FEMA’s Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM)
and the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for a 30-day review and
comment period. A copy of
the County maps and study are available to review at the Mineral County
Planning Office, 150 Armstrong Street,
Keyser, WV.
The Planning Office is located on the third floor of the
Courthouse. A copy will also be
made available for review at the Fort Ashby Public Library,
IGA
Plaza, Fort
Ashby, WV.
Maps for the City of Keyser
are available at the Keyser City Office, Davis
Street, Keyser, and at the Keyser Mineral
County Public Library, 105 N. Main Street,
Keyser, WV. The Mayors
of the Towns of Carpendale, Elk
Garden, Piedmont,
and Ridgeley have also received maps covering their jurisdictions. The
review period provides an opportunity to identify changes or corrections
to non-technical information, such as corporate limits, road names,
bridges, and stream names on the DFIRM and FIS report.
The comment period will close
December 30, 2010.

The preparation of finalized DFIRM and FIS will
begin after the close of the comment period and are expected to become
effective 7 to 10 months after that date.
