Building Permits -- New Construction & Alterations

(Fee Charged)

Any building structures, houses (septic system approval necessary), additions, sheds, garages, pools, etc., erected on your real estate requires a building permit subject to approval of the County Planner.

Building permits required for all construction, assembled kits or demolition are available at city offices in Keyser, Piedmont, Ridgeley, Carpendale, and Elk Garden, if you live in the corporate city limits. Residents of all other districts must make application at the Assessor's Office. Failure to secure a building permit will result in fines, penalties, and back taxes.


Demolition Permits

(No Charge on County Level)

Demolition or removal of any improvement requires a demolition permit in order to remove the value of the improvement from the tax records.


Dog License Fees

Every dog six months of age must have a tag. Tags are available at the Assessor's Office at a cost of $6.00 per dog in the corporate limits of Keyser, Piedmont, Ridgeley, or Carpendale; or $3.00 per dog in all other districts. Payment must be enclosed with assessment form, or tag number listed if previously purchased.
